Creative Touch Studios Comes To Hanover
Just a quick note regarding a fun opportunity for your family and friends. Have you ever wanted to take a fun and unique picture for your family or friends? Maybe something to feature on this years Christmas card?
Well, coming up later this month we will have an event at Hanover to do just this. Creative Touch Studios is coming to our school. They will set up a studio with all kinds of period costumes. Not only that, but by doing this your family will be helping the DAC in its efforts to raise money to start up things such as Academic and Athletic Booster Clubs, and a PTO for next year. The cost is only 10.00 unless of course you or your friends decide to do a more elaborate layout. For 10.00 you will receive a 10×13 portrait. How cool is that?
From all of us on the DAC we would appreciate your support and in return provide you and your friends a fun picture.
If you are interested, email me back with a YES or contact Serene David, the DAC treasurer serene.shivers at gmail.com (replace at with @), and we will provide details to you regarding who to pay and the exact time and date of the shoot. If you could respond by Friday that would really be appreciated.
If you would like to view the web site regarding this opportunity here it is: http://www.antiquities-studios.com/ , you will see some galleries to view among other things.
Thanks again for your consideration… I hope this blesses you and your friends.

Hanover Elementary to Close Its Doors
The Hanover School Board held a special meeting on Wednesday, February 24th at the Hanover library. Discussion was focused on the upcoming 2010-2011 budget cuts. It was unanimously decided that for the 2010-2011 school year the Prairie Heights Elementary will hold the classes for all Pre-k through 4th grade students and the Hanover Elementary school will be placed into a mothballed state. Fifth and sixth grade students will have their own teachers and will have classes in the Hanover Jr./Sr. High School Building. This was a difficult decision to make, but one that was necessary to achieve the academic goals of this district. Physical items relating to this building change were also agreed upon. Additional items requiring more detail and input were tabled until the next meeting.
The Board will be discussing these additional items regarding the upcoming budget and taking additional public input at the next special meeting.
The Board of Education encourages you to come to the next scheduled special meeting on the 8th of March, held at the Prairie Heights building at 6:30 pm and the next regularly scheduled monthly meeting at the Hanover library at 6:30pm on March 17th.

Black Forest League Tournament 2010
Hanover is hosting the District tournament this year for boys and girls Middle School Basketball. We start tomorrow night and I am still in need of some volunteers and a big Home-Town crowd to support our students.
I need someone to run the gate and clock in both gyms.
The schedule is as follows:
Thursday – games start at 4 and there are 4 games in each gym
Friday – games start at 6 and there are 2 games in each gym
Sat – 2 games in each gym 10 and 11:45.
Even if you can only do one game or gate for an hour it would help.
Please call me at 719-683-2247 ext.112 if you have any questions.

Prairie Heights Elementary Visits Fox 21 News
Prairie Heights Elementary went to Fox 21 News today to tour the newsroom and then have the students say the Pledge of Allegiance for the morning newscast. We were able to meet with the morning anchors, Tim Elbertson and Kimberly Price. They showed us how the weather news is broadcast and had the children say the pledge in groups of two or three. The kids had a great time and we have been invited back next year. We had two students who were not able to be filmed but the news team had jobs for them too, they helped with the filming and queuing. The times for the broadcasts are at 6:50 and again at 7:50.
The schedule is as follows:

Your kids were FANTASTIC! Thanks so much for coming in and we hope very much to see you again next year!!
I, Tambra Bernal, contacted Fox 21 about adding the video clips or links to our website, and below is the response I got. I will be adding links as soon as they are available, but here is some information in case you would like to have a copy for your self.
Reply from Fox 21 News:
Thanks for writing, Tambra!
Here is the link to our website, http://www.coloradoconnection.com/news/content.aspx?id=89608.  You can’t upload videos from the website, but you are certainly welcome to link to it!
As added information, anything that you link to that was created by FOX21 News must say “copyrighted by FOX21 News,” and the videos are not allowed to be resold in any form.
However, you and/or the parents can purchase video clips as .WMV files sent to you by e-mail for $20, or burned to a DVD disk for $50 each. We have many people purchase videos, so it’s part of our normal process here.
If you’re interested in buying clips, we ask that you put the request in writing, sent to Jocelyn Tennant (below) with the payment, the name of the clip you want to purchase, the date it aired on FOX21, and to whom it should be e-mailed or sent by USPS.
I keep the Pledge of Allegiance videos online on our FOX21 News Web site until next fall when the new school year begins. After that they are deleted from our system and any links you might put on your Web site will no longer work. Meaning, in September, the system will be purged of this year’s 2009-2010 segments.
Please contact me if you have additional questions.
