Hanover Elementary to Close Its Doors
The Hanover School Board held a special meeting on Wednesday, February 24th at the Hanover library. Discussion was focused on the upcoming 2010-2011 budget cuts. It was unanimously decided that for the 2010-2011 school year the Prairie Heights Elementary will hold the classes for all Pre-k through 4th grade students and the Hanover Elementary school will be placed into a mothballed state. Fifth and sixth grade students will have their own teachers and will have classes in the Hanover Jr./Sr. High School Building. This was a difficult decision to make, but one that was necessary to achieve the academic goals of this district. Physical items relating to this building change were also agreed upon. Additional items requiring more detail and input were tabled until the next meeting.
The Board will be discussing these additional items regarding the upcoming budget and taking additional public input at the next special meeting.
The Board of Education encourages you to come to the next scheduled special meeting on the 8th of March, held at the Prairie Heights building at 6:30 pm and the next regularly scheduled monthly meeting at the Hanover library at 6:30pm on March 17th.
